3 Things I’m Letting Go of This Holiday Season (And Maybe You Need To, Too)
A faith-centered reflection on releasing pressure, perfection, and comparison during the holiday season. Encouragement for busy women choosing peace over performance.
Every year I tell myself, “This is going to be the calm year.”
Then life laughs a little—and adds more to my plate.
But this year feels different.
Not because it’s magically easier, but because I’m choosing what I’m carrying.
Here are the three things I’m letting go of this season, and maybe you need these too:
1. The pressure to do everything
I’m not making every event.
I’m not baking every dessert.
I’m not filling every empty moment with plans.
Some of the most peaceful holidays I’ve had were actually the simplest ones.
2. The need for perfection
My house won’t be spotless.
My skin won’t always glow.
My gifts won’t be magazine-worthy.
But the memories?
Those will be real and meaningful.
3. Comparison
Other women aren’t my competition.
We’re all just doing our best in different seasons with different challenges.
This month, I’m choosing grace—for them, and for myself.
The older I get, the more I realize that the holidays are less about performance and more about presence. God has a way of reminding me, gently, that peace isn’t found in doing more—it’s found in staying rooted in Him.
Stick around—my 12 Days of Christmas begins soon, and I’d love for you to join me.
It’s going to be simple, uplifting, and full of encouragement you can actually use.
